Film Review On Katy’s Universe

 Film review by Khadijah osumanu

  Movie title Katy’s Universe

Directed by Patrick Muhlberger

The movie Katy Universe is a wild, vibrant shot film that takes the concept of a personal breakdown and explains it into superhero absurdity. In just under ten minutes the film tells the story of Katy, who goes to a wedding dabbles in cocaine, and somehow walks away with telekinetic powers. It’s chaotic, hilarious and weirdly empowering.

From the opening moments, the story was able to grab my attention with its high energy pacing and unapologetically absurd tone. It makes fun of modern superhero origin stories while grounding its narrative in something many viewers can relate to: the desperate desire to feel powerful. This movie shows how Katy journeyed from emotional meltdown at a wedding to gaining superpowers.

At its core, the film explores themes of identity, loss of control, and the Fantasy of transformation. The message?sometimes hitting rock bottom gives you powers you didn’t know you had.

Mary Holland is absolutely electric as Katy. Her performance shifts between manic energy and touching vulnerability with ease. She captures the comedic chaos of someone unraveling in real time while still making Katy surprisingly sympathetic.she fully leaves into absurdity of the role without losing emotional authenticity.

Watching Katy crash through her crisis, snort coke in a wedding and discover telekinesis is somehow both hilarious and weirdly inspiring.Though it’s mostly a solo performance Katy’s reactions to the world around her especially in the wedding scenes and moments of supernatural awakening are vivid enough to carry the entire story.

Visually, the Katy Universe is a kinetic joyride. The camera moves with Katy’s emotions- fast, erratic, intense. The editing is tight matching the film’s spiraling tone.Whether it’s slow motion scenes or a sudden burst of telekinetic chaos, each visual beat is calculated and effective. Colors plays a big role too, the lighting reflects Katy’s mental state. The use of special effects is charmingly over the top.

The soundtrack is a driving force behind the film’s frenetic energy. It’s stylish and always a few steps ahead, giving the film its own rhythm. It under scores Katy’s meltdown without ever feeling too obvious. Dialogue is crisp and smart, sound effects especially during the power moments are exaggerated in a fun way that supports the superhero satire. The music enhances the mood, fuels the momentum, and leaves you captivated by the end. The score doesn’t just complement the story it’s part of the adrenaline rush.

The movie is as much about internal collapse as it is about external explosions. Katy doesn’t save the world but in a way, she saves herself. If there’s a weakness, it’s only that it ends so quickly. Emotionally it leaves you surprised, entertained and even a little moved. It’s the type of shot movie you want to watch all the time, it also leaves a lasting impression on the one watching it.l would like to recommend this movie to everyone.

The story talks about Katy who was invited to her friend’s wedding. At the wedding she was asked to give a speech but the speech goes wrong. In a series of impulsive choices, she does drugs, blacks out and wakes up with telekinesis-mild at first.

Her powers grow stronger as her emotional instability does. She wrecks the whole wedding with her power.Katy then calls her friend and tells her about everything that happened and also protects herself using her telekinesis.
